I'm not coming from the usual path.
My background is in criminal justice, competitive speech & debate, and building things from nothing. I studied at Roger Williams, taught myself design, went back to school at Harvard for Digital Media Design, and somewhere in between built a robotics program, a makerspace, countless tools, a curriculum system, and a design practice.
I'm interested in work where design is not decoration, but infrastructure.
THE WEIRD ADVANTAGE
ORIGIN
Criminal Justice → Design
I started in criminal justice. That taught me how systems affect people, how the structure you build determines the experience someone has inside it. When I found design, I realized I'd been thinking about it all along. I just didn't have the vocabulary yet.
VOICE
Speech & Debate
I competed and now coach Speech & Debate at a school that produces state and national champions due to an amazing coaching staff I am honored to have been with. That shaped how I think about communication — every design is an argument. Every interface is a presentation or an act, but a good one. If you can't explain why something works, it probably doesn't.
BUILD
FRC Team 9729 — From Nothing
I founded a competitive FIRST Robotics team at a school that had never had one. Built the program, the space, the culture, the systems. In our first competition season, we won both the Rookie All Star Award and the Rookie Inspiration Award. I didn't just coach a team, I designed an organization — one that teaches kids that what we build reflects who we are.
SPACE
Mission Control
I turned a room into a system. The makerspace I designed isn't just a workshop — it's a branded environment where the space itself teaches. Signage, zones, workflows, poster systems — every element is intentional. The room is the product. What the students create there is the benefit.
NOW
Harvard — Digital Media Design
Currently studying at Harvard Extension School, formalizing what I've been doing instinctively — information architecture, interaction design, visual systems. Taking the self-taught designer and giving him the framework to work at scale.
